Australia, Perth

“Conduit” is a six-track EP that showcases Australia, Perth band Black Stone Brewers’ unique blend of rock and electronic music. Due to be released on March 3rd 2023, we here at Principle Music have had the honour of being able to enjoy this amazing mash-up of talent before the rest of you and honestly can say we are stoked to be able to let you know how much of an amazing experience this release will be for you all!

The first track and namesake track, “Conduit”, is an atmospheric and moody track that blends elements of rock and electronic music. The song features a driving beat that creates a sense of urgency throughout. The use of guitar riffs and electronic synths complement each other well showcasing the effort and talent of the band’s ability to create a unique and engaging sound. This is a glorious introductory track to this amazing EP.

The second track, “The Puppet and the Monster”, is a thrillingly dark track that features a hypnotic beat and haunting vocals. The instrumentation is sparse but effective, with brooding synths and a minimal drumbeat adding to the overall sense of unease. The lyrics tell a story of a puppet and a monster, which have a breadth of application to the listeners’ world, depending on how they feel and where they are in their journey of life. The song builds to a powerful crescendo, with the vocals becoming increasingly urgent and impassioned. This one is a powerful and evocative piece of music that showcases Black Stone Brewers’ impressive songwriting and production skills, but more notably the ability to captivate a listener without the need for there to be constant fast-paced backing, which is certainly a coveted skill for any musician.

“Too Far Gone” features a unique blend of rock and blues that showcases the band’s musical prowess. The use of soul-melting guitar riffs, combined with the smooth and soulful vocals and deep head-banging worthy drums, creates a distinct sound that resonates with the listener. The lyrics explore the theme of someone being out of reach. Overall, “Too Far Gone” is a well-crafted and compelling track that displays the band’s undeniable emotional depth.

The next track, “Clear Trip”, is an atmospheric blend of lo-fi beats and ethereal piano that creates a dreamy soundscape. With an introduction reminiscent of Evanescence, we are introduced to soft and soothing vocals, adding to the laid-back vibe of the song. Here we are provided with a snare-heavy drum beat which set us up for solid grounding to the extensive soundscape. The production is crisp, with each instrument complementing the other, providing epic build-ups that have you on the edge of your seat. This soon becomes a full emotional meltdown as we follow the vocals into the darkness of a mind-blowing guitar solo that sees the track out.

“Cute The Cord” is a hard-hitting track that slaps you in the face from the very first introduction of the epic, distorted guitar riff that sees the track in. The song’s energy complements the lyrics, which encourages listeners to follow the story of the track. The raw vocals, which seem to feel very Brendon Urie-like, and the powerful drums add to the intensity of the song, creating a cathartic listening experience. The chorus is particularly memorable, with the repeated phrase “cut the cord” driving home the song’s message. This one is a must-listen for anyone looking for a heavy, empowering track.

“Every Last Day,” offers a delightful listening experience. The track is a soulful blend of soft rock, indie, and folk music that features glorious guitar segments, drums and those now familiar remarkable vocals, expressing the song’s emotions with an authentic and raw delivery that gives it a personal touch. The song’s lyrics are thought-provoking and address the importance of living in the moment and making every day count, with a hint of remembering days gone by. This track is beautifully composed with the perfect balance between lyrical importance and intriguing backdrops

“Conduit” is an amazing EP that showcases Black Stone Brewers’ musical versatility and songwriting prowess while maintaining the ability to keep people on edge waiting for the next build-up. If you are like me and grew up on the likes of MCR, Bring Me The Horizon, Marilyn Manson and even a piece of Enter Shikari at times, this EP is a must-listen to take you back to those amazing times. With pure delight-filled build-ups, glorious vocals and lyrics, amazing drum segments and magnificent guitar solos, there won’t be an inch of disappointment here.
