Spotlight Release Review | Terry Blade-Won’t Be Around

Read Time:1 Minute, 30 Second

United States, Chicago

Well, vocals alone can rarely knock our socks off, but along came Terry Blade! This amazing United States, Chicago-based artist is everything that is great about music evidenced through their recent release ‘Won’t Be Around’.

This artist has vocals that would shake the likes of B.B. King and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown to the core! Those smooth, glorious, deep, roots-style vocals have the ability to captivate an audience into submission. From the first note, there was nothing else I could do but breathe deeply, sigh heavily and nod my head in pure appreciation.

It is safe to say this is one of the strong vocal performances I have experienced in a while and I listen to hundreds a day! This is the best kind of vocal piece for those who have a storytelling style of writing, which evidently and thankfully Terry certainly has. Taking listeners of a journey of it being the final straw, with the protagonist finally walking away, a strong topic for those warm, solemn almost flippant vocals, while maintaining such deep-rooted and electric emotion.

The simple instrumental of slow blues-style guitars create a flavour of sounds that acts as the Robin to the Batman that is the vocals. It provides a level of substance to tap along to with its presence only seeming to be one of meditation into the story being told.

Everything about this track will have you hunched over, ear to the speaker and staring into space in the hopes of being able to experience every note, syllable and tone. What Terry has created here is a sanctuary within the music that you all need to hear!
