Spotlight Release Review | Ticket To The Universe – Lenart’s rising star bares his heart on a bold indie-pop cut

Slovenia, Lenart

Behind the name Ticket To The Universe lies a fiercely driven DIY artist from Lenart, Slovenia, quietly building a distinctive presence within the European alt-pop scene. “Be The One,” released on 8th April 2025, arrives as a sleek, emotionally earnest cut from an artist clearly fuelled by something deeper than radio play. It is as much a love letter as it is a mission statement.

Crafted solo in a makeshift living room studio, “Be The One” channels a confessional intensity wrapped in glossy production. The track opens with glimmering synths and a melancholic chord progression before building into a soaring chorus that would not sound out of place on a GRAMMY stage. But this is not your average slick pop single. It is far more personal.

The song pulses with longing. Lyrically, it is a plea to be seen, to be chosen, to matter in the eyes of someone important. There is no irony here, no artifice. Just a direct outpouring of emotion shaped into a crisp three-minute form. And that sincerity is what sticks. It does not hide behind metaphor or bravado. It invites you straight into the writer’s emotional world.

The artist, who writes, records, and produces everything independently, cites an unnamed muse as the driving force behind the song. While some might raise eyebrows at the intensity of devotion, there is no denying the fire that fuels this track. “Be The One” is unapologetically heartfelt, teetering between vulnerability and ambition.

The sound strikes a harmonious balance between electro-pop and indie ballads, inspiring a sense of connection and emotion, with a touch of early 2010s synthpop. Think Owl City if he swapped sugar for soul. But the vocals lean more alternative, with a slight rasp that adds edge to the gloss.

At a time when emotional detachment is fashionable in pop, Ticket To The Universe goes the other way. This is a maximalist feeling, undiluted by trends or image. It is not trying to be clever. It is trying to connect.

If you are into artists who wear their hearts on their sleeve, make room for Ticket To The Universe. “Be The One” is more than a song. It is a snapshot of raw yearning wrapped in polished pop form and a quiet promise that this artist is just getting started.
