Spotlight Release Review | William Hut- Don’t Give Up

Read Time:1 Minute, 35 Second

Norway, Bergen

When an artist is so on top of their game that their work is recognised by the Grammy you certainly know they are one to keep your eye on. Well, that is exactly the case when it comes to Bergen, Norway’s William Hut.

This amazing award-winning talent just keeps knocking it out of the park, with the latest release ”Don’t Give Up” being another winning shot. This track is one many can relate to, being all about living with low self-esteem and anxiety, which makes this an even better experience for the listener.

Being a track of motivation, this beautiful piece aims to take your attention from the very beginning, which it achieves with its mesmerising, soothing sounds. As it holds onto that attention it isn’t long before the emotion is taken over too, with very little room for anything else to penetrate through.

The backing track offers a simple cycle beat between bass-heavy and hi-hat-heavy, which is coupled with some gorgeous dreamy synths and keys and nice familiar muted guitar plucking. Although simple there are so many changes in the soundscape, utilising minimal variations of instrumentation that the talent of this really sits in its ability to remain full with its minimalist nature.

This is accompanied perfectly by almost familiar, calming vocals. These are vocals that tell the story so well for anyone not ready to hear the message, as they provide some level of warmth. These lead vocals are combined with a soothing, almost choir-like backing, which offers the listener an in to be involved with the track and sing along from listen one, really making this track for you and no one else.

This is certainly a talent to keep on the radar, you’d be stupid not to.
