This has been an amazing listen and a damn good time. Not every day is it that it is possible to listen to an album and have every single track hit the spot, but here we are it has happened.

Starting out, with the aptly named ‘the interview [skit]’ which is exactly what you would think it is, Kidkarello’s ‘FreeWilled’ has been a hell of an experience. This piece is wholly an introduction to the album explaining the journey in the artists’ own words. It is an extremely creative addition to have to the opening of an album. Many artists use their name or specific recognisable quirk, but this one holds true meaning and lets the listener into the world of Kidkarello displaying the pure determination that went into the rest of this art.

The next track ‘Bodies over bodies’ follows nicely on from the interview skit with dirty bass that pulsates through the headphones. Into a gorgeous flow coupled with some insane sound manipulations which create pure intensity mashed with amazing lyrical genius puts you into an emotional rollercoaster with Kidkarello.

This quickly moves into a different vibe; emo meets rap with ‘d.o.t.b’ with Room-41-More. This is the perfect track for those inbetweeners who love a bit of Linkin park but equally the MGK vibe. The artists complement each other so well with there being a great use of piano flowing through this one offering an eerie element for the listener.

Then back to business as usual with ‘where have you been’ where the lyrics very much show the talent and work that has gone into the artists’ work. The grunge-style grime in this track is very enticing, it’ll have you rocking along in no time and if you are anything like me somehow have you feeling powerful with the flow of worship intertwined, which flows through into the next track ‘dear god’.

This track has some prominent claps which accompany his plea to a higher power to keep him on the right track and focused on his craft regardless of what society deems acceptable. I love the contrasting almost demonic vocal effects towards the end.

Then we are introduced to the emotional side of Kidkarello, where the beats, although still amazing, are not central to the piece. This is where the heart gets poured out and the soul bears all with the crafted lyrics being placed perfectly to allow the listener to feel all the emotions he has on this journey to success, but more so how his faith both helps push him there, but also is sometimes a hindrance. A turn is made in the album here, which flows into the next track ‘midnight dreams’ with Luke Norris.

The feel of this track can be felt immediately with the introduction of the simple guitar strums inducing sadness in the listener, a realisation that this is one to listen to and sit with while contemplating the words wholly and fully.

The next track, as we near the end of the album is the final collaboration to take place. Again, with Room-41-More and their track ‘On the regular’ but this time with some dreamy 808s. It is clear in this track that I was not wrong, these two artists complement each other so well, especially given the uniqueness of this track and the almost higher power intervention that it brings with it.

This takes us to the final piece, ‘long time coming’ a track that is a clear view of the past, which I think was an artistic way to end an album that began with the description of the journey and an insight as to where it wants to go.

Kidkarello is an amazing artist which I am looking forward to watching grow. It was amazing to find this epic album and I really can’t wait to hear more!
