Spotlight EP Release Review | Aisha J – Day In The Life

Read Time:1 Minute, 18 Second

United Kingdom, London

This week I was given the honour of being able to preview an amazing EP from an extremely talented London-based artist! Aisha J as of yesterday (21st of October) released some of the most thought-changing tracks I have heard in a while. The fact it called me out so boldly both made me annoyed and realise I needed to pay attention. This Ep, ‘Day In The Life’, if you hadn’t already guessed, takes us on a journey with Aisha through a number of realisations, and self-discovery of self-worth.

With the beautifully soulful vocals laced over simple backing tracks we really are presented with present the pure undeniable talent of this artist. This Four track EP, Aisha really hits the heart full force, reaching that part of your brain that longs for classic RnB where it all began, with simplicity and elegance, and finesse, but a progressive twist in the introduction of adjacent genres.

As we move through these four tracks we are able to see the progression of Aish’s realisations cleverly both in lyrics and the tracks themselves. As each one becomes fuller the more she realises, I am unsure as to whether this was intentional, but it works! I have to say this release has been a stroke of genius and really did allow me to feel pure strength, even if to begin with I felt a little attacked! Go listen to your latest life-changer!
