Spotlight Release Review | Cigarillo – Bacon and Eggs

Read Time:1 Minute, 24 Second

 Australia, Adelaide

Ever wondered where the baggy trouser-Esque talent went? Well, it up and entered into Brighton duo Cigarillo, but let’s be clear, this is two separate Brighton’s, one in Australia and one in England! I know right, EPIC. Back to the good stuff, when you want to listen to a bit of Britpop, ‘ Bacon and Eggs’ is where you need to look.

Building on the already highly regarded reputation of indie bands hailing from Brighton before them, they are creating sounds that if I didn’t trust their word, I would have said with confidence they were released in the 90s and remastered for high sound quality. But the interesting thing here is although it is clearer quality somehow during production Cigarillo’s have been able to maintain the classic grit and feel.

Utilising super catchy, comical, and witty lyrical genius the duo has managed to discuss a touchy topic with all new parents! The emotions and struggles that come with parenthood, in the realist of terms, there is no sugar coating here. Utilising classical guitar riffs, simple drum beats, and of course that amazing production style and quality they have been able to produce something so magnificent it has genuinely been stuck in my head all week.

This was the final piece of joy released to us before they finally provide us with their debut album ‘Deodorant’ soon to be released on November 18th. If this track is anything to go by, it will be amazing and you all need to get on the watch for its release!
