Spotlight Release Review |CJ JARRATT-My Darlin’

Read Time:1 Minute, 47 Second

United Kingdom, Birmingham

There are not many tracks that can take me back to some of the hardest points in my life, call it lack of therapy, but United Kingdom, Birmingham-based artist CJ Jarratt has managed to do just that. What makes this even sweeter, is that it was achieved by a hometown artist, which brings a level of comfort.

CJ release their latest track ‘My Darlin’ on the 9th of December 2022 to see out the year and it is sad to think it took us nearly a month to discover this extremely personal masterpiece. Being a song written about a loved one, it is a track filled with honour, memories and love that can only be understood entirely by those that have experienced loss, which is what makes this song so important for me to share.

Kicking off with a gorgeous simple key piece, this track is introduced with nothing but hair-raising emotion. The vocals begin almost immediately, which provides us with the story of the track and enhances the beauty of the emotion this track has to offer. That slight raspy, calming, low tone delivery that allows us to ensure we can replace the voice in our mind with this one, as the lyrics utter all the thoughts we have when we lose a close loved one will leave the listener in a state of not feeling alone.

The soundscape remains simple throughout, which only adds to the importance of the track, piquing interest and ensuring every single word is heard and can be understood.

Everything about this track is honestly perfect, from the instrumentation through to production which really evidences the talent CJ has to bring to the world.

On a personal level, I can honestly say this track brought me to tears, but for the rest of the world, I would say you really need to listen to this track and appreciate the greatness it holds and the connection it has the power to make.
