Spotlight Release Review |SUSY K-Workin’

Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

United Kingdom, Edinburgh

This is possibly one of the easiest Spotlight pieces to write and that is purely down to the unwavering talent of the United Kingdom, Edinburgh artist Suzy K. Lately there have been days where I have felt a little disconnected from music, as I am sure many of us feel at times, but every single listen of their latest release “Workin’” had me in my feels and feeling connected to music again.

Being the first single of their upcoming EP project ‘Hear It From Her’, it is clear what an amazing release is set to come to us all.

Their ability to maintain intrigue and purpose from the beautiful instrumental introduction is plainly incredible. Featuring a gorgeous soul-filled drum beat, beautifully bouncy bass and some funky, enticing synth segments it is at this point we really realise we are in for a treat.

As the track progresses, we get our first taste of Susy K’s smooth like butter vocals, which hit right into the heart and soul of the listener. It is at this point we are introduced to the topic of the track, which becomes a story of not being noticed by our love interest and the effort that will be put in to try and reach the point of being recognised and accepted. This is delivered with pure emotion and aggression in the vocals, as that rasp comes out at points, adding a sense of fight and growl to the track. It is at this very moment for me that nothing else in the world mattered, all other sounds blocked out and there was nothing but complete attention given to this amazing release.

This is one of the greatest finds I think I have had in a while and to have been welcomed on Susy K’s healing journey (#hearitfromher) is such a privilege!
