Number 1

THE UNDERCLASS – Bad Dreams- United Kingdom, Stoke-On-Trent – 21/10/22

First to bless us this week is an amazing band by the name of The Underclass. Featuring classic-style guitar riffs and gorgeous crashing drum beats this Stoke-on-Trent-based quartet has created a track that is UPRAWR-ready and frankly, if it isn’t playing at my next night out, I will be deathly disappointed. All of these beautifully combined instruments frame some of the smoothest vocals I have been able to experience in such a long time, they harness an authentic classical feel while maintaining it modern youthful spirit. ‘Bad Dreams’ is a track not to be missed and I heavily suggest you get onto it before it explodes!

Number 2

INAIR – Same Skies – United Kingdom, Reading – 21/10/22

Next up on this week’s run down we have another United Kingdom artist, this time Reading based, is the UK getting its wind of talent back? Things went quiet for a while, then Inair came onto our radar and our opinions changed. With their entire existence dedicated to their late friend and their understanding of addiction, it is easy to say they must be making their friend proud.

It is very rare that you can find a band on par with Enter Shikari, but these guys have managed it and honestly I am here for it! This three-piece utilise glorious synths, mesmerising guitars, and epic vocals to bring to the masses ‘same skies’ a track fit to be played in all the best rock bars up and down the country. This really needs to be heard, because no words could ever describe how amazing this track is. From the very first twinkle through the final strum of the guitar we are hooked.

Number 3

PAYTRON SAINT – Possibly Honest – United Kingdom, Belper – 21/10/22

Have you ever heard a track and questioned where it has been all your life? No? Well, you will now as you are introduced to Belper, United Kingdom band Paytron Saint and their track ‘Possibly honest’!

Another track with a classical feel had me straight back to my youth, with my Fake ID in scruffy murphy’s (that’s Birmingham for all my Midlands readers) with Nirvana blasting in the background.

With gorgeous distorted guitars, and high-energy drums this electrifying track will have you moving in no time! Then we head over to the vocals and wow ow wow! They have something in them that had you captivated before you even listen to what the lyrics are saying.

Then when you consider the lyrics that are delivered between these gorgeous grungy instruments you realise the intelligence behind the track! As the vocalist discusses trying to recall feeling alive amongst the chaos of the guitar and the drums, there is an oxymoron at play that provides an almost theatrical element to the piece. I can really see this piece blowing up very soon!

Number 4

SHOCKPOWDER – The Ghost In Spring – United Kingdom, Aylesbury –  21/10/22

Number four on this week’s run-through is the amazing Shockpowder! This Aylesbury, United Kingdom artist has managed to bring together some amazing simplistic sounds that have allowed the 90’s era to jump out of the speakers while maintaining the modern-day twist. ‘Kicking ‘The Ghosts in spring’ kicks off with some beautifully simple high-hat we see this song in slowly and calmly, before the guitar kicks in and that is all over.

An epic distorted guitar is the sign of true enjoyment within a song and this has them in plenty! The dreamy long hold vocals give the listener an eery feel, which builds pure emotion, while the drums keep us bopping along hoping for the track not to end! It is almost like a safe space to feel our depression, the main topic, which is something that is rare to find these days. This is an amazing representation of UK talent!

Number 5

The Franklys – Before You Hit The Ground – United Kingdom, London – 04/11/22

Next up we have a band that must be loved, not just for their musical talent but because they bonded over a love of dogs, and that for us is what shows a good person! But anyway, back to the music. London/Sweden-based The Frankleys has blessed the airwaves with their gorgeous track ‘Hit the ground’ and we are not made about it! With a beautifully drum-heavy track, featuring solid amazing guitar segments all working together to frame the epic and glorious vocals we are onto a winner! With an amazing 90s vibe for it this track is set to blow, so remember we introduced it to you, you cannot take that credit away from us!

Number 6

Doll Riot – Mrreowrr – United States, Oceanside – 28/10/22

As we have now passed the mid-point of this week’s run down, we reach an old-school style feminist anthem. We have all heard of Pussy Riot, well now it is time for you to hear of Doll Riot. This track features some epic guitar segments and solos, framed by gorgeous drum backings containing a lot of cymbals usage and vocals which are frankly off the chain, Mrreowrr offers a wealth of enjoyment. Welcome to the track you can scream along to, release the frustrations and share an incredible message!

For a track that is obviously and completely inspired by movies, Nashville artist PiPEllA may be just what you are looking for. Number 8

Asterous – Animus – Canada, Vancouver – 28/10/22

Number eight to share with you this week is the awesome soundscapes of Vancouver, Canada band Asterous and their amazing track Animus. This latest explosion of glorious music brings with it a warning to be wary of wolves in sheep’s clothing, a message a lot of us need to hear, understand, acknowledge and action. Utilising beautifully distorted guitar segments and solos that can only be assumed to have left the guitar in flames, gorgeous hollow drums providing steady and subtle rhythms, along with super dreamy vocals, providing a chant like feel, this track is one really reaches into your soul.
