Number 1

KAREN HARDING – Strong For You – Location: Australia, Melbourne – Release Date: 11/11/22

This week we have a Principle Music returner! This week we have the latest release from the Amazing Karen Harding. Last time we were blessed with Karens’ release ‘ Letter To My Friend’ a beautiful track in tribute to a friend’s journey through tough times. True to form Karen has released another awesome track filled to the brim with emotion, utilising simple keys, which introduce us to the track, creating a sense of intimacy and drawing us in. This is quickly followed by glorious fingerpicked guitar, leading us into what Karen is best known for. Then comes the best bit those gorgeous ethereal vocals that cocoon the listener, leaving the outside world frozen in time for a brief moment.

Crafted whilst working with Argentinian family-run P&M Records, ‘Strong for you’ is an across-the-pond coalition that we did not know we wanted but certainly needed. If you are a fan of Eva Cassidy, Jennifer Warnes, or Shelby Lynne, then you certainly are a fan of Karen Harding!

Number 2

BAYWUD – Not Ready To Let Go – Location: United States, Los Angeles – Release Date: 26/10/22

Next up this week we have the amazing Los Angeles artist BAYWUD. Their latest release ‘Not Ready To Let Go’ takes listeners on a journey of their own memories as they pass through BAYWUD’s emotions, thoughts, and feelings on the appreciation that can be found within a ‘perfectly imperfect relationship.’ The topic I am sure many have an understanding of conveys what we all struggle to admit let alone discuss with the most hauntingly beautiful vocals if you listen to nothing else get yourself to around 3:30 if that talent doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will!

Simple guitar and drum beats fill out the backing of this beautiful track but don’t be fooled, this is where the production has shined through. With layers in the right places and build-ups provided at the most opportune times, it is safe to say it has been built in such an exquisite manner.

Encompassing a variety of genres along the way from blues, to Soul, down to Rock, and into the realms of the pop world with a touch of Country filled out with clear folk feels, this track has it all and will cater to everyone.

Number 3

Dallin Applebaum – Ghosttown, USA – Location: United States, Nashville, TN – Release Date: 27/10/22

Third on this weeks run down we have Nashville artist Dallin Applebaum and their release ‘Ghosttown, USA.’ This amazing release kicks off with the melodic vocals of Dallin, grabbing attention before we get past the first line, keeping the focus on the importance of the lyrics. Laced in-between these angelic tones is a simple, slow and steady guitar strum, which is fast followed by beautiful keys and a subtly dulled cymbal heavy drum beat, which continues throughout to be the main cause of build-up and intensity alongside the build-up of powerful vocals.

Through this track, Dallin takes the listener on a rollercoaster of emotions through something we all know is a sore subject, being ghosted. But worse than that, then coming face to face with the ghoster. Dating is difficult enough without these situations, but what makes it better is knowing you are now alone, which Dallin has managed to do here.

Being the third single from the forthcoming album, Grey Matters, we are now very excited for what’s to come!

Number 4

Harry Fennell – Next In Line – Location: Ireland, Donabte – Release Date: 04/11/22

Number four on this weeks run through is Ireland’s very own Harry Fennell and their latest release ‘Next In Line’. Harry has been praised as Dublin’s most captivating singer, and we here at Principle Music would have to agree This latest release begins with beautiful guitar melodic fingerpicking, which instantly adds a soothing feel to the track. Then in come the vocals, which are warm, melodic, and evidencing that previously mentioned captivation, because this is the moment the listener is hooked no matter what.

Slowly as the track progresses it fills out, with a simple drum but effecting intensity building drums. There is a dreamy feel to this track, even during the build-ups which are honestly interesting to experience as a listener. It would be easy to place this extremely emotional release on par with the likes of Mumford and Sons or Hozier, so if that is your bag, this artist is for you!

Number 5

The Prickly Pair – Mary’s Tears – Location: United States, Los Angeles – Release Date: 02/11/22

Finishing this week we have The Prickly Pair and their track ‘Mary’s Tears’. This epic Country piece is a representation of what true talent can achieve. Containing a nostalgic, classical feel but with an edgy spin, that modernises the overall track, making this one that certainly needs to be on your radar.

With extremely clear lyrical meaning delivered by sweet melodic vocals, containing the grit of emotional much-loved Country music, this track hits all areas of interest in the listener. Once this is coupled with the layers of gorgeous warm keys, ultra interesting sounds from the autoharp, amazingly rhythmic guitar, and the classically vocal complimenting sliding guitar, it is impossible to not fall in love with this latest release. You really need to hear it to appreciate how great it is!
